My experiment with camera shots and angles

Close up

To begin with, my experiment of camera shots and angles is a simple medium close up of my partner while she is walking towards me. As she walks and says a brief phrase I continue to back up, to continue to capture the upper half of her for the shot intended. I think this shot will be useful in capturing someone talking while they walk.

Over the shoulder

This was probably my favourite shot as you are just showing the perspective of the person being filmed while still showing a part of them. My partner and I decided to take a stroll through the garden as I filmed her walking through, pushing the leaves out of the way. I would use this shot to either film a conversation or to add a sense of peace or even tension while a character is walking to or away.

Aerial Shot

This shot is an aerial shot or also known as a bird's eye. I had my partner walk along the steps in our school garden to capture movement in the shot, her walking being the focal point. I like this shot as you can see not only the action but further out into the scenery.

Low Angle

The next angle is a low angle shot of the trees in our school. This shot was a bit difficult as I had to back far away and get my camera onto ground level to capture the trees moving in the wind. I think if I were to use this shot I would use it to capture a person in an intimidating way, such as the introduction to a villain.

Extreme Wide Shot

Another shot in our school garden, this time an extreme wide shot. As you can see my first purpose was to catch the three people enjoying their time and then to further lead out to the scenery of the school around them. I enjoyed this shot because you can see far out, but you can still have a main point of the shot.

Can't wait to continue experimenting,

Sofia
